most of my early works were shot with a 4X5 view camera. the pictures shown here, from 1973, are typical of my investigations into pictorial logic.

using friends, strangers, and various props, i made pictures that asked questions about the process of picturing and the relationship between the eye and the mind.

these later images were made by contact printing combinations of 4X5-inch negatives, bringing spatial, conceptual, and chronological contraditctions into play.
